Yeah I read that yesterday. There's a lot of weird stuff in this case. I'm interested to see what happen's his friend that had already admitted to multiple murders.

SuSE now defaults to ext3 instead of ReiserFS for its partition table setup. In fact they are doing this since Reiser was accused.

Edit; You might find this interesting

It truly is strange, I assume if it's worth the while IBM might pick up from where Reiser left off...as the slashdot article says.

To be fair according to the mailing lists there had been plan to drop ReiserFS beforehand as development had stagnated and Resier4 was behind schedule and not making any progress in many areas. I think it would have been extremely premature of Novell to cut out the filesystem based on just an accusation.

Think of the average Joe who has just heard that his computer contains things made by someone who is accused of murdering his wife.....bad impression........and Novell has many people(other corporations included) to answer to...its just plain prestige at stake...

What must be realized, however, is that ReiserFS is not only Reiser's work but several others too.......only that Reiser started it

The other side of the story also appears convincing to me....ReiserFS has not gone through much development recently.

Dont know the truth and probably never will be able to...

You're saying that thinking the average Joe doesn't care that a person involved with his OS tried to throw a chair at an employee?

    1. I don't recall Ballmer working for Novell ....i.e., Novell might have shown a different reaction to that chair incident, if it would have happened.

    2. Normally companies don't fire people just after plain accusations by some ex-employee, who was probably pi**ed off with his ex-boss, get aired. They take the pains to investigate the whole issue and then take action....if MS would have found that Ballmer indeed threw the chair he probably would have faced some penalty. (and this does not mean that Novell did find Reiser guilty....its the police who have arrested him....Ballmer never got arrested in the first place).

    3. Look at the severity levels of these different incidents.
