something about choosing 'configure a new kernel' over 'human contact' just feels weird :P

Ditto. Same with my game consoles. My g/f has had exes in the past that would spend more time with their games or more time online than with her. I recognize that my games and computer are not as important as human contact. I know how to save and quit.

I usually get the computers that the local schools don't want if I choose, so about every 4 years I am the person they call to dispose of them.

The only bad thing about that is that they all come with CRT monitors. WTF am I going to do with 30-50 CRT's? I usually just strip the computers and have spare parts.

I do need a couple new towers though, I got rid of all of my old ones recently.

Random thought from an old man!

I have been with women who complained about my being with my cars too much. I found that dragging them under the car with me to replace the muffler and tailpipe or helping me change the oil taught them to leave me and my car alone.

There are things males should try to avoid doing with their women.

Whoever does the cooking does the shopping. If your woman forces you to go with her to the supermarket find other things to do than go up and down the aisles. ( Take your laptop with you and stay in the car till the groceries are ready to be hauled home ).

I avoid Linen stores, salons, shoe stores etc.

If your computer ( or your television ) is in your bedroom you are just asking for trouble.

I think that all women believe men who are spending lots of time on the computer are looking at p0rn. Some of them probably are, but surely not all of them.

Very true, the typical question in IM when talking to a girl

    She: What are you doing?
Me: Watching a video on the internet
She: Oh! You are looking at porn!

Depending on how understanding a friend she is, the correct reply is
You: You are view good at it by the way.
You: Your mom is a good teacher. ^_^

I don't know how you guessed it, but the conversation went exactly like that
