Anyone heard of Nikola Tesla?
I found out about this amazing inventor a few weeks ago. I had heard of the Tesla Coil but had no idea about it's creator. This man is so interesting i feel compelled to share this information about him. His name is Nikola Tesla. I am currently reading a biography on him. It's very well written and reveals a lot that most people did not know about some other very important people in history. One of these people is Thomas Edison. The book is a great read and I recommend it. It's called Tesla: Man Out of Time. Anyone interested in how electronics work or just electricity would be interested in reading this.

Sure... Tesla was way ahead of others during his time.Anyone heard of Nikola Tesla?
I built a tesla coil once and it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen. Lots of movies have referenced him, and his character had a fairly big part in the recent movie, The Prestige. He's talked about very often on certain television shows that come on The History Channel and The Discovery Channel, too.
Anyone that has studied electronics should be familiar with Nikola Tesla and his legacy.oz

Magnetic field intensity, for example, is measured in Tesla (T) units.

A particle collider called TESLA was going to be built a while back (it's since changed to the more boring name of "the International Linear Collider"). They came up with the name TESLA in honour of Nikola, and then forced an acronym -- Tera-Electron volt Superconducting Linear Accelerator!

Magnetic Flux Density springs into my old mind at the mention of Tesla.
Now I'll be racking my brains out trying to remember where I put the URL for history's influential inventors.

Those coils look amazing, but they also look bloody dangerous. I would probably blow up my whole street if I built one!
