As a result of this thread I've started playing both Travian and Tribal Wars. Both great and I'm enjoying them very much. Thanks to all...

I've heard some great things about LotRO. I probably won't pick it up (I barely have enough time even to play WoW these days), but it definitely looks interesting.

As for Runescape, rudie hit that on the head. I tried it a long time back, and it was confusing, had terrible graphics, and just utterly not fun.

Tribal Wars does look interesting. Maybe I'll check it out...

Agreed. I played UO for 5-6 years starting in 1998 - but shortly after EA took the game from Origin all was downhill. I too currently play WoW, but am not as of yet as impressed as I was by old-school UO.

i've never played them properly. i tried out a native linux one (planeshift? maybe??) and it was crap. none of the quests worked, and when they occasionally did it was a boring fetch x from z and bring it back to me.
i tried out vendetta (space flight mmorpg) which has potential but its still quite early in development to have full feature set.
would be interested to have a go at the fps mmorpgs
You know, aliens are going to come to earth in 50 years and kill the hell out of us for DDoSing their networks with this SETI crap
