Specifically: Scott Hawkins' "Linux Desk Reference" is a good one to have on-hand.

Do an advanced forum search for linux books and you'll find lots of references. Be sure to refine your search to the Coffee Lounge only because that's where most of the linux books threads wind up.

linux in a nutshell by o-reilley's is pretty good. Especially as a desk reference.

A good book
I currently have under this very keyboard Linux System Commands - The Ultimate Shop Manual. It has been much help. I will be using it for my freshly installed Mandrake 8.1, the only OS that would install, and worked right the first time, and detected both my processors

The most helpful 'Linux' book I have read is moreso for scripting than Linux, it's the Advanced Bash Scripting guid on tldp.org. If you read that and understand it you'll be great with bash and have a good handle on some other scripting languages.

I really like "Easy Linux Commands" by Emmons and Clark.
