ALOT, i've applied for at least 60-70 jobs, with more then half of them being ones i am fully qualified to do (help desk, low level tech suport, things like that) and around 1/4 of them being ones i could easily learn to do what i dont already know (jr admin, LAMP implementation {need more knowlege of MySQL} things like that) the other 1/4 are jobs that i knew i wouldn't get, but was hoping to catch someone's attention if they maybe had a lower level job about to be posted, mostly jobs for IBM, Safeway {my current employer, though i'm just a checker} and other companies that are well known.

i dont know why, but i'm getting nothing, not even responses of "your not it." AND the same jobs keep being posted, i dont know if it's just my lack of experience or what, but this is quite a bit harder then i thought it would be.
New to the internet, technical forums, or the hacker / open source community??

Do you have someone who can proofread your resume and cover letter? Perhaps a professional/businessman in the family? Or your high school buddy who went off to college and majored in English?

my resume has been looked over several times by family members and such. my problem isn't with bad wording on a resume. My problem is i cant find a job untill i have experience, and i cant get experience until i have a job.

the problem is that everyone is so certain that a piece of paper tells anything about a person. a piece of paper is a piece of paper, i want to see a job interview where you sit in front of a broken computer, and are told to fix it, or configure it in some way. THAT would weed out people who are smart on paper and people who are actualy smart. but no one wants to take the time to do that, so they outsource their hiring from the IT department to the HR department, where they believe in the all mighty resume god. what a load of crap.

am i the only one to find this system to be not just flawed, but flawed to the point that only someone with an extra cromosome, or worse a microsoft enginere could have come up with it??
