| Linuxforums.org- Registration / Login Problems for AOL Users Some people who try to register or login to linuxforums.org while connected to the internet with AOL make experience problems - becuase you are connecting to the Internet with AOL.
In their (AOL's) efforts to be as non conforming to Internet standards as possible, they route all (and cache(keep a copy) of most) your HTTP traffic through a massive collection of proxy servers with different IP addresses, meaning that everytime you make a request for a web page it can potentially be coming from a different IP address each time. This causes problems for software like phpBB (which we use at linuxforums.org) as it uses (among other things) IP addresses to keep user sessions active.
Short Version of all that: If you use AOL and cannot login to these forums - upgrade to a real ISP.
Thanks,
Jason |

| or even if you're a frugal person, or can't even use broadband for whatever reason, you can always find another 56k provider...almost any other ISP is better than AOL....and if you seriously can find out, just ask here ^_^
case in point: GET A REAL ISP BESIDES AOL. Really.... |

| If you are still using AOL just skip the downloading of new software, and get straight to killing yourself, for you will bring no good to the internet with a usefull isp.

| Is it just me, or is the very concept of aol.co.uk just kind of silly? I mean, shouldn't it be UKOL?

| i just figured people of this day and age could walk to work, go without a meal or two a day or even get a second job just to be able to afford the high speed. what can i say i've been spoiled with high speed and just can't make myself go back to dialup, but since i don't have a land line phone anyway it'd be just as expensive as getting high speed through the cable (another necessity)
