[SOLVED] I keep getting logged out

Yesterday, something happened that really pissed me off.

I found an unanswered post that I knew the answer to. It was quite complex with several questions included so it took me some time to frame the answer the way I wanted it. But when I tried to submit it, I found that I had been logged off while I was working. So of course I logged on again and found that in doing so, I had lost the answer I had been working on. That was a lot of work gone down the drain! I was so annoyed that I didn't try again.

I can understand that people get logged off after a while but does it have to be so soon and while they are still working?

I can certainly understand about being pissed off, that can be a real pain. I have never had this happen to me though, I wonder, do you use Tabs to open new links?

When you go to log in, check the "remember me" box.

That way you won't get logged out at all until you log yourself out.

Thanks for the feedback.

Please excuse my ignorance: do I check it before or after entering my name and password? Or instead?

...and if you are already logged in, you'll need to log out, then log back in doing what casper said above.

Oh, and I should add that this is all cookie based, so if you should delete them you'll be automatically logged out again.

That's why I right-click+copy my answer every time I find myself in a position such as this to lose my typing. Hell, I've done that several times when there was no reason to lose my typing, but I was so paranoid after extensive typing that I just did it anyway.

Sorry for your troubles. I do wish you well on your journeys in life.

I agree with Skittle. It should be part of a techie's paranoia to copy before submitting or reviewing. It's a new habit I've had to acquire in the past two years. I think it should just be done these days from now on as a precautionary step.

Idea: Concept for BBS draft system. Save as you type, but don't display.
