Arrow LinuxForums.org still VERY slow... [SOLVED]

As mentioned in earlier threads, I'm having problems with slow page loads (about 20 to 30 seconds) on all the .org links, whereas the .com links load very fast. The only fix I've been able to find that works is to insert the following code into my /etc/hosts file:

Code:
67.15.52.42 images.linuxforums.org
67.15.52.42 ads.coreroot.com
67.15.52.42 linuxforums.org
67.15.52.42 www.linuxforums.org
67.15.52.42 irc.linuxforums.org
67.15.52.42 feeds.linuxforums.org
This wouldn't be a problem, except that I install/reinstall different distros quite often for experimental purposes and it's quite cumbersome having to enter that code into the hosts file each time. Clearly there's something wrong with the .org links, as this is the only site where I have to alter the hosts file.

Any assistance in getting this resolved would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, Vergil - thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's the way .com works for me, really fast, but .org is super-sucky. Did I just create a new term there?

I know that even Jason was having trouble with .org, as that's were I got the info to add to the hosts file to speed things up. I don't have any idea what's wrong with it but it's irritating. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Hey, hope you had a great weekend!

Okay, thanks for the reply, loft306. I'm going to remove the hosts file entries and see if things are any better here.

It's fast at this end on *.org using any old browser.

Still very slow here if I remove the special entries for the /etc/hosts file. I just don't get why the .com links would be so much faster than .org links if it's all on the same server.

could be anything from odd DNS servers to a funny connection, you could try to query your DNS server for both of the adresses and see if there's any difference in response time (it might be the DNS not caching the queries or dropping them fast)
