Angry What is the difference

Can somebody tell me what the difference is between add and remove installation and the adept packet manager!!

Adept is more advanced. They both work the same (use the same backend) but adept gives you more control in what you install and how (if you so desire).

thanks for that, as your a linux guru maybe you can answer this one. i downloaded google earth into my home downloads folder . Its a bin file file so how do i install in the terminal i assume it does not need to be run through root.
Can you let me know how this is typed in the console (i am using Debian-Kubuntu)

Here's a HowTo for installing .bin files that should work for you:

Of course for Kubuntu, you'd need to use sudo with your commands, as usual.
