I have some how manage to lose my desktop file in home and also the add and remove files in the program list.
The desktop will not allow me to put anything on it but not sure why the add and remove program has vanished. This i think was the result of a mishap on the computer a few days ago when it froze up i rebooted and ended up with a couple of files on the desktop which i then removed by using rm -rf (i admit i should not of done that one ) rm -rf was only used as a last resort. How can i reinstall add and remove along with activating the desktop again

Sorry,
I am using 7.04 Kubuntu linux at the moment, i did not realize the add and remove had vanished until recently.
Is there a way to reinstall add and remove without disrupting other programs

PS: I have recreated the desktop directory in my home file section but it will not display on the screen not sure how these are linked together

have you tried synaptic. I use that over Add/Remove all the time. I have noticed that somehow add/remove doesn't always have the same software to install, I don't understand how thats possible but it makes me use synaptic

Greetings from Guelph. I also find that Synaptic is a little more intuitive and polished than Adept. Also, it seems easier to search for apps under Synaptic. I would definitely download it and give it a try. Just hit the reload button before you use it so it can refresh itself from your repositories.
