I use Debian and i was wondering,
do the Ubuntu repositories work with debian?
I know that debian and ubuntu are pretty much the same thing but
are there any massive amounts of bugs or anything when using eachothers repositories?

Some packages can probably be used between either distro, while others definitely can't.

I'd recommend sticking with the Debian repos, but if you want to experiment, be sure to have your backups on hand so that you can restore them if something should break. That way you can experiment all you'd like.

it should work, as long as it can find the required dependencies for it, some stuff isn't available in the debian repos though, so you would run into trouble with package dependencies

there is really no need to use an ubuntu package.

you could add lenny and or sid repositories in your apt sources file and then use AptPinning - Debian Wiki

so you can still keep your stable repositores. or if this is your personal desktop just upgrade to lenny and its as good as ubuntu I say. Certain things aren't customized but overall packages should be the same since ubuntu and debian aren't just similar, ubuntu is built off debian packages. as I have heard, ubuntu is basically debian unstable with its own customizations, but still debian.

so IMO, I wouldn't mix packages
