New ethernet card, new eth number?

BL4CKFIRE64 Just Joined! Join Date: Jul 2006 Posts: 13	New ethernet card, new eth number? I just replaced my old ethernet card with a new one, and now the number has changed from eth0 to eth2, how can I get it back to eth0?

vlad59 Just Joined! Join Date: Jun 2009 Posts: 19	I had the same problem, You have to tweak a file in an udev script. try to grep for eth0. I'll post more information tonight.

Persistent NIC naming is handled by Udev - Debian Wiki

Edit the file below and delete the lines for any current NIC's. After reboot, the NIC's will be reset to eth0, eth1, etc. in the order they are detected.
