Post output here.
Hello, I have installed Fedora 11 and Ubuntu 9.04 and both have the issue that Toxic Waste had. I ran your command and this is the output:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Rage Mobility M3 AGP 2x (rev 02)

I cant figure out how to fix this issue, I assume it is with this type of video chip. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks, I actually figured it out on my own When you first boot from the ubuntu cd there is a selection on the main screen for advanced install, selecting that shows a safe video selection. Installing that way worked for me.

yes 9.04, I didnt notice if Fedora had that option when installing or not. The only drawback so far is that the highest resolution I can select is 800x600. If only ATI made some decent linux drivers.
