wine error please help

hi i am using debian 4.0


on my dedicated box

i have installed wine via the apt-get install wine

it installs ok but then when i try to use and windows program i get error

saying wine has exited with a 193 error

you can try to debug at a higher level


please some body help me sort this prob out i really need wine to work

If you only need to unrar files, there is a package called unrar that has native support.

I would run wine from a terminal to get more verbose output.

I think etch will be coming to EOL soon and you might have better luck with wine in lenny as it will be a newer version.

wine

hi m8 its not just to unrar

i have tried to install unrar installs ok but does not work

still will not unrar files

plus i need to use wine to upoad files to usenet with powerpost

or is there a program to do that in linux

I've never had a problem with unrar, though I rarely have a need for it, even for those rars that are split up into multiple files. I'm not sure what version of wine is used on etch, but its probably really old and there's a chance the app you want to use will not run on it (it may not run on the current version for that matter). I would check WineHQ - Wine Application Database and see what the deal is there.
