    Fat32 in ubuntu


    i have just installed my ubuntu 5.04 but i can't see on "system" ntfs and fat32 partitions (ntfs is not a problem, but fat32 is a inermediate artition between win and ubuntu)

    how could i acces

    in /dev i cant acces to those units......

    Code:
    su
    cd /mnt
    mkdir bob
    mount /dev/hdax /mnt/bob
    x= what ever the number of your partition is
    bob = whatever you want to call the mount point

    wow, i just had the same question. how do i make the fat32 partition automount when i reboot?

    add to /etc/fstab
    Code:
    /dev/hdax       /mnt/bob        vfat        auto,users,rw,exec  1  0

    thanks, that worked, but how do i get the permission to write to it? when i right click on it, go to permissions, everything's grayed out and i can't change it...

    the ideal solution is:
    Code:
    /dev/hdax /mnt/bob vfat  umask=0222,dmask=0000,uid=0002,gid=users,users  0 0
    This will set the user/group of the partition, and also permissions on all the files such that you can read and write to the fat32 drive.
