USB logitech mouse going crazy! It has rabies!

Debian Kernel 2.6.8 XFree86 4.3

Hi everyone,

my usb logitech mouse has rabies!
(I have to mention that i am new to linux, therefor i guess "hope" the problem is easiely solvable)

Since i updated from kernel 2.4.27 to kernel 2.6.8 i regulary get uncontrolled mouse movement and clicking over the whole screen,

opening windows and shutting them again!!! Luckly, this only happens about every thirty minutes. The real problem is, that in games like wolfenstein et or quake 3,

this problem appears about every 20 sec! The player starts uncontrolled jumping, ducking, moving, zooming and shooting until i stop moving the mouse! It seems that the

combination using keyboard and mouse courses this problem, but i'm not sure.

My guess is, that it must be the settings for mouse initialization in XFreeconf-4. I am using a logitech dual optical usb mouse. Also i have removed gpm, because it should course

interruptions with the mouse device under X.

Here my Xfree config:
################################################## ######################
Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "keyboard"
Option "CoreKeyboard"
Option "XkbRules" "xfree86"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "de"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
Option "CorePointer"
Option "Device" "/dev/psaux" #i also have tried /dev/input/mice + mouse0
Option "Protocol" "ps/2" #tried "ImPS/2", "auto" ....
#Option "Emulate3Buttons" "true" #tried disabling and enabling it
#Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" #tried disabling and enabling it
EndSection
################################################## ######################

On the other hand, it could be the keyboard corsing this problem, because i get the following error after shutting down x.
################################################## ######################
The XKEYBOARD keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports:
> Warning: Type "ONE_LEVEL" has 1 levels, but has 2 symbols
> Ignoring extra symbols
Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the X server
################################################## ######################

here parts of my kernel log, maybe it helps finding the problem ;)

There is a line,

"kernel: psmouse.c: Mouse at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing 2 bytes away. "

maybe that is the problem?

I hope someone can help, its really annoying to have fglrx + 3d-acceleration + alsa running, but not being able to enjoy the games :(
Please help a linux noob,

Snitride

I bought a new optical mouse that did that. Totally random.

Fixed it by throwing my mouse mat away and just using the desk.

Worth a try?

I had a similar problem with my Logitech USB optical mouse.

When I moved the mouse a little bit, it would jump to the other side of the screen and open a window or bring up a right-click menu.

What I did was unplug the ps/2 or USB connector for 30 seconds at login(that is when the problem started) and plug it back in, everything was fine after doing that.

Problem documented here.

I have a USB Logitech mouse and under kernel 2.6 it simply doesn't work at all. Just as if it wasn't plugged in.
