    uninstall Realplayer 10

Hi, I'm a Linux newbie, and I need help on uninstalling Real Player 10. Since there was no Debian package at the time, I downloaded the file RealPlayer10GOLD.bin, and I installed it without problems.

The only problem is, I don't know how to uninstall, because I normally use synaptic or aptitude

    Can someone help me plz?

    Hi,

Remove a package (but not its configuration files): dpkg --remove foo.
Remove a package (including its configuration files): dpkg --purge foo

Replace foo with your package name.

    Does not work

Nope, I tried, but it did not work. I think it's because I didn't install it with dpkg. I executed a .bin file provided by the company:

    RealPlayer10GOLD.bin

You'll have to manually uninstall it. Remove all binaries and man pages it installed with rm. Be careful if it installed to a location only writeable as root, as you may accidentally rm something you need.

    Good luck.

    Wo there

It took me a while, but I found the uninstall script for real player 10.

I had installed it on my desktop and wanted to move it to a more appropriate folder
I also attached it just in case.
Make it executable and type "./uninst.sh -h" for help menu.

Use the debian-multimedia.org repo and use apt-get install realplayer, much better than using a.run installer then fighting to try to remove it.
