i have a question on flash player for ubuntu i am enrolled at the local tech center that teaches the cisco ccna program the issue i have is that i try to use my linux box (ubuntu with all new updates and latest flash) to do my reading and when i try to take a quiz it loads and then it says done but there was no text at all and i reinstalled flash but then it still didnt work i tryed right clicking and changing the settings but it has no text either.

if anyone has had this problem please help thanks.

And - I hate to ask this question - do you know if it works in Windows, with IE?

yes i have tryed both evolution and firefox and ie on the xp box on the same switch and it works they only machine in the whole school with linux and it is the only machine that cant read it.

how did you install flash?

normally, I let firefox install the flash pluggin from macromedia.com automatically. everything just works.

also can you see other flash content. hit another site that has flash content and see if it displays.

In Ubuntu 5.10 (breezy), it's pretty much straight forward.

1) Make sure you have
in your /etc/apt/sources.list.

2) Then update your apt-get database
3) And finally install flash, making sure any browsers is closed:
Make sure you answer properly the configuration's questions.

you could look at easyubuntu which assists getting all the fiddly bits working

I had a problem while upgrading firefox to the 1.5.0.3
version. My flashplayer went nuts. It turned out to be adblock.
I upgraded adblock, and the problem was solved. Some
browser extensions may interact. You have to experiment.

already tried that
i'm currently using the one from the macromedia website
and i have gsfonts and gsfonts-x11 installed
and i couldn't get easyubuntu to work
