How to change The Login screen

hello all

I am new to editing source and creating deb package out of that.I have created a installable cd with KDE packages.
I want to modify all the screens starting for the boot like login screen, menus, desktop background etc.

Let me start with modifying the login screen. The login screen is having "welcome to KDE desktop" and KDE image. So in these places I want to write "welcome to my OS" and add a different image and many other things for future.

Now I want to know which package source i have to download.Where and what I need to modify in the source.Do I need to modify diff and .dsc files also for some reason.

After modifying the source folder do I need to patch anything last creating deb package out of that.

Could I get solutions here itself if not any documenatation is available and if provided will be a great help.

thank you in advance

bye
