    Can't change themes in beryl

    Hi,

I'm running Debian Etch with Beryl, I have controls such as 3d cube and such everything works except I can't change beryl-emerald themes.

I can click on them but I only have a quit button at the bottom, I've tried restarting it and such, I have it set up so that its in the start up manager when I log in.

I've tried everything that sounds similar, I found a fix for a guy that was running kde - desktop in which he changed /etc/sysconfig/ .... ? system file I believe he was running gentoo. Regardless this isn't in my /etc

    Any idea's???

No, open emerald-them-manager as your user name and not as root.

Probably the configuration file are broken ,let's try to initialize them .

    in your Home dir delete
    .emerald
    .beryl-managerrc
    .beryl

It's very starnge and also when you start you X server these shouldn't be created automatically, i believe that you are running gnome ! one question is the beryl manager button appears in the Taskbar after deleting these file .

I had a problem similar to yours , but when you delete the configuration files and after run bery-manager from the terminal this will make a lot of debugging output that can help you to understand the problem , so just try to don't start beryl automatically (if it's gnome you can do from the session manager ) and then run beryl from the terminal and post what you see .

    Here was another attempt

This is what I got when I exit ctrl-alt-backspace then dropped to crtl-alt-f1 it stopped gdm and tried to start kde but couldn't find files. I then typed start x

    Found the problem

Since I was using a minimal installation as the base, I didn't have the dbus-qt and/or dbus-X11 packages installed. After installing those, the problems went away.

I don't know how to install them.
