    Sound issue

Hi does anyone know of something I need to sort out my sound issue. I have disabled "sound on board" in the bios and I have a separate pci sound card because music production is what I do. But with the Debian drive sometimes on booting into the desktop there is an error about the sound. Sorry I can't remember what it is and I will try and do a capture when it happens again as it doesn't happen everytime. I know before I started installing a fair bit of things(not that I have used this drive much at all until now) it played cd's. I have had this problem before I think ages ago when I had Ubuntu on this drive and I am not sure if I got it sorted or not. Oh and I have dual boot thing happening with windoze on the other drive.

Try running as root (or with sudo)
    Code:
    alsaconf
    And post any errors.

    Thanks

For some reason it seems to be working now without doing anything but I will keep this command in mind if it goes wrong again!

    Hmmmm

Well now I can't record with my mic as user but can in console mode.....well when I use Audacity I can anyway. How do I give permission to the microphone? If that is what I need. There are other things like my scanner that is working as root too but not as user. Maybe that is also why my webcam and normal camera are not working as user either.

    Solved

I think I have it all solved now. I opened a program called KMix and fiddled with that quite a bit and now I have the microphone recording. I have Audacity and it recorded there and I did a test call in Skype .
