    screen resolution stuck at 640x480

I'm using Gnome on Debian Sarge. It always worked fine until a few days ago when I started the computer and the screen resolution went all the way down. I looked in the etc/X11/xorg.conf file, and my screen is listed with plenty of available resolutions, including 1024x768. However, I'm having trouble actually changing the resolution. Some help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have you done an upgrade or made some other change that could have caused this?

What video card are you using?

Can you post the contents of your xorg.conf file and let us have a look at it?
