    Linux + LCD TVs

    Hi All,
Has anybody tried to configure Linux box with large LCD / Plasma TVs as monitor? How does the console mode work. How does the console mode look like, say from 4-5 feet away from screen?. Any info is welcome.

    Thank You,
    AG

    Yep, it's pretty normal actually.

The console looks just like the console on any other monitor (HD TVs are after all monitors) except it's bigger. If you use regular 80x25 console, you can see it from up to 10 feet away (I did at least). If you use the framebuffer to get more characters on screen it really depends and you'll have to try it out.

If you want to use X, you'll also need to manually tweak your xorg.conf file with the appropriate ModeLine values for your TV. A search on google will yeild a bunch of hits on almost any TV.
