    how to change kernel from AMD to intel

    I just installed Debian Etch 4.0 on my Dell desktop. My CPU is an Intel Duo Core processor. When I installed Debian, it instlled the amd linux-image and kernel. I did apt-get install linux-image and now dpkg shows this:
    # dpkg --list|grep linux-imag
    ii linux-image-2.6-amd64 2.6.18+6etch2 Linux kernel 2.6 image on AMD64
    ii linux-image-2.6-em64t-p4 2.6.18+6etch2 Linux 2.6 image on Intel em64t P4 machines -
    ii linux-image-2.6.18-4-amd64 2.6.18.dfsg.1-12etch2 Linux 2.6.18 image on AMD64
    ii linux-image-2.6.18-5-amd64 2.6.18.dfsg.1-13etch2 Linux 2.6.18 image on AMD64

    my question is, how do I install the p4 kernel??
    /boot only has the amd files.

    you need load the p4 kernel.

    edit your bootloader configuration file and change the kernel image to the proper image.
