    debian testing

I have a simple question about Debian testing .

I've been running the September 1st testing version. It runs smoothly . OK , it runs reasonably smooth My question is how long can I run this ? The one I'm using is updating and seems fine. The reason I ask is that I don't want to wake up one day and find out my version doesn't work or update.

    Thanks for the help

    Welcome to the forums!

You can use testing as long as it continues to work for you, and past that point if you are willing to experiment, be patient, and fix it if it should break. Otherwise, there's no way for anyone to know how long you can use it.

    Hi

I too am using testing (code-named "Lenny") and have done for the last several months now, shortly after "Etch" became stable. Everyday I am notified about multiple updates and I cannot recall a single problem or instability encountered yet (touch wood!! ). If your sources list is set to "lenny", then once "lenny" becomes stable, then the updates will cease, but that is unlikely to happen for a while. Mine are set at "testing" and so will continue to update because Debian will always have a testing repository, no matter what the latest code-name is.

Just relax and enjoy the ride!!
