    Uh-oh, gnome problems already

    Ok. I installed Debian yesterday and today when i boot up my system and log in it pops up with the Debian loading screen and then a whole bunch of GNOME error message pop up and want to know if i want to delete them or not. Also on my desktop i just have the icons in the top right corner e.g. applictions, place, desktop, internet, and email. WHAT IS WRONG!!!!!! HOW DO I FIX IT!!!!

    Did you have the same problem yesterday when you first tried it? If so you probally did something wrong to it.. Try another desktop environment untill you can get gnome right. right xfce it should be something like

    Code:
    apt-get install xfc4
    and kde(i hate it);
    Code:
    apt-get install kde
    also, once you install one of these try reinstalling gnome.

    i will try to install these now, how do i then install gnome, and no i didnt have the problem yesterday.

    you dont have to install both of them, I prefer xfce since its better. but once you have one of those installed you can just try removing and installing gnome again. ALSO; im not shure if xfce needs gnome to run ...

    okay, now when i try it pops up with this, i did try to install wine yesterday but to no luck, i really need some kind of guide

    you misspelled 'xfce4' you spelled it 'xfc4' do apt-get update first though

    k well i put in my disc and it looks like it intsalling some thing so that is getting somehwhere. A friend told me about something also called kde or something that was like an instant messaging program where i could enter my MSN screen name and talk to my friends, do u know about this?
