    ETD File Reader

I'm back with another problem, but at least this time it's not as brain-racking as getting my wireless to work.

Is there a package that can be installed for Debian that allows you to read ETD files?

I had never heard of etd files so I asked google. Of course this is Adobe! Well I am no fan of that company and here is why in a quote from this eBook Reader frequently asked questions:
Does the Acrobat eBook Reader run on Linux?

We do not currently plan to develop a version for the Linux platform, but we may in the future if that platform becomes more widely used.
I think what Adobe is saying here is "Show us the money" because they have nothing else on their mind. Of course we must also consider that neither Redmond nor Cupertino would ever want this to happen. Just think of the anarchy if Adobe ported Photoshop to Linux! Mwahaha. Chaos would ensue and there would be just one less reason for anyone to use Microsoft Windows or Apple OSX. Well.....I can dream right?

I think the best thing you can do is give them what they asked for. A demand. The fact that Adobe even adds this question to the FAQ would seem to indicate that there has been at least some interest.

I really have no idea if this will work but running the ebook reader under WINE might be an option or even a virtual machine running Windows may be your only solution for the time being.

I did find this in an Ubuntu thread:
The Linux version of Acrobat reader does not read secure ebooks. You need to install the windows one.

First install wine (this lets you run some windows sotfware)
    sudo apt-get install wine

Then go to the adobe website and download version 7 of acrobat reader for WINDOWS

D NOT TRY VERSION 8 - IT IS BROKEN

Then use wine to run the acrobat file.
    wine acr...
Best of luck and please......post back with results!
