    I am also experiencing mouse problems in UBUNTU. I am using a ps/2 style generic mouse. it is not an optical mouse, but it appears to jump around the screen and select things at random. I don't believe I am able to fix it with a configuration file. Anyone who has experience with fixing such a thing, please respond. I am new to Ubuntu. Please respond with light technical jargon. Thanks.

    Hi and Welcome !

    Open Terminal and execute this
    Code:
    less /etc/X11/xorg.conf
    * X is Capital in X11.
    Copy Section "InputDevice" of Mouse and post here.
    It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
