cpu load on dual-core only 50%

    Hi all

If I compile some thing or rip flac2ogg or other cpu-intensive load, then the system (top and also gkrellm) show only 50% systemload. The ACPI set the cpu-clock to maximum and very hot air come from the cpu-fan. but, why it shows only 50%?

I use the debian-standard-kernel (amd64) from the stable repository on a intel dual-core machine.

thank you for any ideas and hints.

Some programs don't use all cores of a multi-core system well, so when you're compiling or ripping it's using 100% of one core -- which is 50% of your processor.

Try compiling something AND using flac2ogg *at the same time*, and you should see your load go to 100%.
