Question Linux can't see LSI Logic SAS disks.

    Hello all.

I have bought SuperMICRO with LSI SAS Megaraid.
Problem is that booting into instalation doesn't show any hard drives.
I even tried Ubuntu distro to check if it sees any HDDs - no luck.

After reading some post on the internet I've tried FreeBSD - and I
was able to install it with no problems.

    Later ...
I have installed Linux Debian ETH on IDE hdd, compiled new kernel with LSI SAS support
and again - no luck. I was no able to see those HDDs.

One more thing I have tried is: to Disable "Enable software RAID" jumper on motherboard.
Motherboard homepage: Supermicro, Inc. - Products | Motherboards | Xeon Boards | X7DVL-3
After restart - yahoo - I was able to see two of my 36 SAS disks.

I have copied all / partition to /mnt .. Installed lilo on /sda disk.
Tried to reboot, and realized that after changing jumper positions
boot option in BIOS to boot from those SAS disks disappeared. And I get
    "No operating system found"

After I have enabled "Enable software RAID" jumper on motherboard, boot
options appeared in BIOS and Debian Linux started to boot from SAS disk but
came up with Kernel panic, because Linux can't see those partitions ...
Maybe I should have enabled some more options in while configuring Kernel?

What else can be done here?

Thanks a lot guys for any help!
    cheers,
    Jaroslav

are you trying to install using etch?

strange because it seems like it should see it, others have installed using the same raid
Debian Linux (on HP) - DL140 G3 with LSI SAS1068 controller

    maybe try this

I'll try Redhat Enterprise 5 in 1 hours and let you know how it goes.

Btw, should I delete all raid arrays or what should I do with them ?

    Hello.
Well. no GOOD selution at the moment i have here.
As for now I have attached 1 SATA drive, installed OS, and I'm booting the kernel from SATA, and running "everything" from SAS disks with JPA2 jumper disabled.
