    first u need to edit the
    /etc/samba/smb.conf file
    then run the command
    /etc/init.d/smb start
    Now u r ready to browse ur samba share

    for details

    I cant seem to locate either of those directories. Is there somewhere else it could be? Do I have to make it?

    I alredy answered you in the testing software topic ,but i write here too.

    samba install a startup script into /etc/init.d dir , it's a system dir.
    starting samba from terminal

    /etc/init.d/samba start

    just paste this link in yr browser... and hey i run all this in Win Vista... yes you can access yr samba shares in Vista with a few tricks..
