Etch hangs on reboot
Hi all!
Just recently my Toshiba Tecra A2 laptop has stopped rebooting. If i tell the computer to reboot from debian (etch) it shuts down just fine, but as soon as everything is completely shut down and you think the computer is about to restart it just hangs with a black screen. To restart you have to manually hold down the power button until you hear the computer turn off. The you can turn it on again and everything works fine.
I have not been able to work out what i may have done to cause this as i was changing a lot of things at the time when i think it first started happening (it was a fairly new install and i was still setting it up). But the problem was isolated to debian on my computer untill today when my zenwalk (4.2) install started doing the same thing.
The only common ground i see between the two problems is that they both appeared to have occured after i installed fnfx, but there could be other reasons.
My system spec are:
Intel Centrino 1.5GHz
512MB Ram
60GB HDD (7.2GB of which is for each distro)
Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG
sorry i could not be more specific, but i have no idea what info you guys need for this sort of problem
EDIT: I think i have just worked out that the problem does not originate with fnfx as i just disabled it and the kernel modules that i enabled to get it working (toshiba and toshiba_acpi) and that didn't fix the problem.....
