    Command Line Runlevel

I have seen several posts about this, so am I correct in my finding that Debian has no default command line runlevel? You have to rename some file for runlevel 3 to become a command line?

Just seems very odd that this is not included! Isn't it the whole point of using linux? lol

    Thanks,

    David

Debian runlevels 2-5 are the same, and the same goes for Debian derivatives. You can manually configure them to the more conventual system if needs be.

If you want to boot into the command line, you should just disable the login manager using something like update-rc.d. Debian (and other distros such as Gentoo) use the same runlevel for starting with the CLI or X unlike Red Hat, SUSE, Slack etc.
