How to connect to MY network
hello, i have been using debian linux for a while now, and have been loving it.
it was just until recently (yesterday), that my family have chosen to get some wireless in the house, up until then i have been using my eth0 card to connect linux to the internet...
Today, i think i have successfully installed the drivers using ndiswrapper and now i need to connect to MY network.
Now, i should tell you i am really bad at networking... i just like a simple plug in a cord and play it, so setting up the wireless connection for windows did have its problems (one of those being i am not at all use to windows), and was finnally able to put the 128-bit WEP encryption on.
I should also mention that sometimes, my wireless network overlaps with another network, which has no protection. I dont want to use this network for several reason
1.) Its unsafe
2.) I dont like taking whats not mine
3.) Most importantly, its way too slow (1Mbps too slow)
How do i get connected to my network??
i think i am using kernal 2.6.18-4-686, i am using the D-link DWL-G122 C1 USB wireless adapter (which i do think linux has picked up, here is an image)

Thanks you for your help

You will need the MAC adress of your Modem.
When you have that you can connect to the right one.
To get a MAC adress you might have to use Kismet or something. But well its worth it.
The one with a Unsafe network should be teached a lesson.
Tell him to close it down. Else something will happen.
Then wireshark up his ***.
They never learn till its to late..
Anywho, what do you use to connect? Network Manerger or Clear Commandline?
Either way you can select a MAC adress to connect to.
Hope that helps
