    /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock:error help needed.

I uninstalled and reinstalled mysql now i'm getting this...

    Code:
Unable to establish connection to MySQL
    2002 : Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
    and i checked for /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

    and /var/run/mysqld isn't even thier i did a, find /mysqld.sock and didn't find anything.

any help on this matter would be great as it has me stumped,
i've tried reinstalling mysql-common,apache2, and still no luck.
Is it possible to use any mysqld.sock eg. from one of you guys perhaps. or how would i go about re adding it.

    Debian etch 4.0 (new install)
    Linux 2.6 i685
