install freezing...help?!
Hello all,
Noob here trying to install debian. I have trouble shot about as far as my limited knowledge can take me. Best I can tell is I must have some sort of hardware issue. I used 2 different cd drives, 2 different burned iso's from 2 different sources burned on 2 different computers. I removed the harddrive set as a slave on a windows computer ran diag...clean...wrote zeros...used one of the isos and did a dual install everything worked well there....moved drive back to the other computer and it wont boot. Install freezes during the partioning portion...freezes at 33%. I dont know what else to try...any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
There two issue to consider,
1 - if u are running an Intel chip, then that is common problem and mostly if u update to the latest bios, that is assuming that yo machine is self built.
2 - it could also be a problem with, the ISO files, go and test it in a different pc, and see if i can go very far, or install a virtaul machine coz for they are netural.
Cheers

Thanks Robin,
I tried the isos on that windows machine I mentioned...worked fine although that was an amd machine and the other is intel. Does this mean the intel machine will not work at all with linux? Im not sure what you mean by a virtual machine either?
