Configuring NetworkManager + NetworkManager Applet
Hi all,
I'm running GNOME in a Debian etch install, and I am having issues with the NetworkManager Applet: my network connections are running just fine, but the applet reports "No network connection" as a tooltip and shows an image conveying the same message.
I would like to fix this, but I have not found information on configuring the applet. On its website (NetworkManager) I didn't see a reference to any config files.
A right-click on the applet icon drops down a menu with three entries: a checkbox entry "Enable Networking" (checked), "Connection Information" (disabled) and "About" (NetworkManager Applet 0.6.4).
A left-click says "No network devices have been found" in tooltip style.
Cheers, kaiLast edited by kai12; 11-26-2007 at 09:27 AM. Reason: formatting of the post.

Hi all,
I am still trying to figure out how to configure GNOME NetworkManager.
Here's a new piece of information, maybe someone can help me with this?
The NetworkManager on my Debian Etch system logs (to daemon.log)
Can somebody explain what's going on here?Code:Dec 4 09:57:29 localhost NetworkManager: <debug info>^I[1196758649.928737] nm_hal_device_added (): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_424_2504_noserial'). Dec 4 09:57:30 localhost NetworkManager: <debug info>^I[1196758650.042506] nm_hal_device_added (): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_ffffffff_ffffffff_noserial'). Dec 4 09:57:30 localhost NetworkManager: <debug info>^I[1196758650.043238] nm_hal_device_added (): New device added (hal udi is '/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_424_2504_noserial_usbraw'). Dec 4 09:57:48 localhost NetworkManager: <information>^IUpdating allowed wireless network lists. Dec 4 09:57:48 localhost NetworkManager: <WARNING>^I nm_dbus_get_networks_cb (): error received: org.freedesktop.NetworkManagerInfo.NoNetworks - There are no wireless networks stored..
There is no wireless card in this computer, so I'm not surprised that "no
wireless networks" are stored, but why is there (apparently) some entry
on the "allowed wireless network list"?
It's indicated as a "<WARNING>" only, but then again it says "error received"
which means to me that this should not happen.
Again: does anybody know how NetworkManager is configured?
Thanks! kai
