Post root login in GNOME not working but in KDE works...!

    Hi,
I have just installed Debian 4.

My screen resolution was too low. So, I have changed the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file.

But now I cannot login to my root account. I can login with normal user account and the screen resolution is perfect 1024x768. But when I login as root, the screen is full with vertical blinking lines.

I can login as root in KDE, but cannot login in GNOME.

So, I want to login as root in GNOME. Is there any setting file which I edit to login in GNOME as root? What do I do?

I think you are refering to KDM and GDM?
If so, press F10 in the GDM login screen.
    Cheers,

The question this raises is why do you want to log in graphically as root? This is a serious security and stability risk for your system. What is it you're trying to accomplish by doing this? There is probably a way to do it while logged in as a regular user.
