Man did I mess up or what ?

    Hi all,
I'm running Debian Lenny with KDE/KDM and I did an "apt-get install wajig" and when I hit "enter' a whole lot of packages flew by being removed and some updated. My problem is, when I rebooted,I have to login from a prompt. You know,"root","password","startx" and get a window manager called TWM which I know nothing about. Has this happened to anyone else before? How do I get kdm back?

    Thanks jonycat

    TWM is Toms Window Mananger.
Most of the times it comes with X.
your Update might have overwritten all the X11 config files.
There is somekind of Configfile (I forgot whats its called in Debian) of X11. And it should have twm in there. Change it to kde.

    Hey thanks !
That must be xconfig in /etc/X11 I didn't think of that. I'll give it a try.

    Thank You Again

Well in Gentoo its not the /etc/x11 file if I recall correctly but well. I hope I helped you in fixing it

If the update did overwrite Config Files you might want to check all the config files of Security. eg SSHd and FTP.
Since if they got resetted to Standart LowLevel Security you might get a Hack quick

Well I checked xorg.conf and initab things seem in order there. It seems all that is wrong is I'm in TWM. I know I can switch between fvwm, windowmaker, kdm and TWM window managers so I doubt anything is messed up as I first thought.I just cannot figure out how to switch back to kdm. This is really kind of funny in a way cuz I have know idea what I did. Guess its time to do a "man TWM" and read up on it.If anyone has an idea on how to get back to kdm let me know.

    Thanks jonycat

    VERY easy.
Start TWM. (I accualy enjoy using it...)
    Type in the provided Terminal:
    xterm & top
    search for twm in top.
    When found kill PID.
Then you get two bare Consoles.
Enter kde or start-kde (not sure how kde works) and there is kde
