    Blank screen on boot

    Sup everyone,
Ok, I'm running Lenny with 2.6.23.9 kernel and kde, ati radeon 256MB vid card.I installed kmyfirewall but had to change some network settings in my kernel to get it working so I recompiled/installed but now on boot my screen goes blank. The system loads fine and all seems to be working. I cannot see it load to check for errors etc. however.I checked initab ,runlevel was set to 2 changed to 3 rebooted with same result.Booted into my old 2.6.18 and it to is blank on boot up.Could my problem be with xserver or kde? This all started after installing kmyfirewall.

    Thanks jonycat

sounds like X. when it finishes booting up hit CTRL+ALT+F1 (any F1-F6 keys should work). This should give you a command prompt to work with, if it does then your problem definitly sounds X related. you can check logs or you can just do dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg and walk thru the steps
