Change monitor resolution?
I want to know that while using debian in either Gnome or KDE, how do you change the monitor resolution? It is currently at 1600*1200 and I want to bump down.
Secondly how do you do same at command prompt? I would rather not mess up the other settings.Ack!

if you right click on the screen with kde or gnome i think it will bring up an option to configure that. i use fluxbox so i am not familiar with it.
but in the terminal, you just have to modify the /etc/X11/XF86config file, if xorg change accordingly. at the end of the file there should be some options for resolution. it is a pretty easy file to understand.
always make a backup first of any config file you are going to modify though. you should also date it for later, just in case.
cp /etc/X11/XF86config /etc/X11/XF86config.071904
