    Debian & Ubuntu EMC

Have been trying to install Debian & Ubuntu EMC on the same HDD but in different partitions. Using Debian BDI 4.51 EMC2 CD & Ubuntu 6.06 ver 2.2.1 CD. The Debian installs nicely but when I partition it according to Debian & use the Ubuntu CD to install. It formats the HDD and wipes out the Debian EMC every time.

I'm sure I'm missing something?? Would like to have both Debian & Ubuntu EMCs on the same HDD to compliment each other. I've tried installing Debian first & set up partitions according to Debian. I've tried installing Ubuntu first but unable to find the correct procedure??

Does any body have any suggestions or perhaps managed to figure it out?? For what it worth, I have XP on the other HDD using the NTFS files. Unable to install the FAT32 files but may not need to??

    Your assistance will be appreciated.

    Best wishes,
    Pete

Install Debian first and create an ext3 partition for Ubuntu before Ubuntu Installation. Start Ubuntu installation, select ext3 partition in Partition Section and assign it / mount point. You can share Debian's SWAP partition. Installer will detect and use Debian's SWAP partition itself. Continue installation and Ubuntu installer will setup dual boot itself.
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
