Ok I need some advice concerning Debian firewall configuration. I'm trying to setup Sarge's fifth release but when I use guarddog from the Debian DVD I seem to loose all network connectivity. All I get is a “operation not permitted” message when I ping and it stalls when I try to use VNC. I decided to be a little creative and just copy the rc.firewall file from my present SuSE system and use that but unfortunately I'm not exactly a Linux expert and I don't know if there will be any problems taking a firewall created on a RPM system and sticking it on a Debian based one. Seeing as its a security matter I would like some input.

Note: before you start asking, I'm using Sarge as a temporary measure until I can get a newer version of another distro, dialup is damn slow you know!!!!
