X restarts when attempting to set date/time?

X restarts when I attempt to set the date/time with either date or any other tool.
I can't find anything in logs under /var/log and I have no idea what could cause this, I didn't find anything using search engines either -- so I'm asking; would could cause this?

I'm running Debian 4.0 on a normal x86, this issue is present on both my laptop and my desktop (both (Debian 4.0/x86).

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe the issue is related to this debian bug. If you think not after reviewing the bug report, post back and maybe we can figure out something else that it might be.
