    Attansic l1 driver + Cd-rom problems

    Hi,

I'm totally new to Linux and very excited about it. However, the installation wasn't so smooth as I expected. I tried the netinst of Debian Etch but I had some troubles with the cd-rom drive and when I finally got it working (took me about 2 hours), there was a problem with my onboard Ethernet card, so I couldn't continue the installation. Anyway, I decided to install Debian with normal cd's (iso's from the web). The installation went ok, except my lan card still not working. After searching on the internet I found the driver and the instructions to install the Attansic l1 driver, but when I burned a cd with the drivers on my macbook and inserted it in my linux box, GNOME said the cd was empty. Since I don't have any other medium available atm (besides maybe a mp3 player with usb cable, but I dont know how to work with it on linux), I dont know what to do. Any help is appreciated!

edit: Ok, I managed to get the cdrom drive working. Appearently I had to log in as root. Now when I try to compile the drivers with the cmd make install, it says the linux kernel source wasn't found. I thought it was included on cd1? Help please
