tape-drive in Debian
Hi,
I have no experience with tape-drives in Linux so far, and I have to get one for an existing server.
A few HP-drives I've seen seem pretty suitable. For example that one or a little smaller (sorry german). They're all marked as compatible with RedHat, does that mean they should run aswell perfectly with Debian? What trouble should I be expecting? Does anyone have some very good experience integrating a specific drive in a running system?
For Backup I would like to stick with rsync, because it does it's job with a NAS-system pretty satisfactory and as far as i understand it should also work on tape-drives. Is that right?
Interface should be SCSI. I might also need a new Controller. If you know how to check that without screwing open the box I would really appreciate telling me how.
Running Debian with 2.6.8 Kernel.
Alex
