Any way to change the screen resolution @ cmd prompt?
Hello all, first post. Decided I'd broaden my abilities and mess around with linux. I've always loved messing around with new things and Windows has pretty much put me to a bore.
I have installed the latest (v4) of Debian, successfully changed my 'X' resolution thru the xorg.conf and have been building/installing a few binaries.
I'd like to get away from the X desktop and work more in the command prompt (outside the 'desktop' terminal). Unfortunately, my native screen resolution is a 22" 1680x1050. When I CTRL+ALT+F2 out of X, the bottom line of my screen is cut off. I can't adjust the monitor controls far enough to get to see my bottom line ( can barely see the tops of the chars).
Is there any way to change what resolution the command prompt is displayed in?

You have to add vga parameter in kernel line of /boot/grub/menu.lst file.
Check vga table here. Check the table under title Linux Video Mode Numbers. My system supports 1280x1024 resolution only and I have added vga=793 at the end of kernel line.It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.
