ESD in Debian with web browsers

    Hi everyone,

I am running the latest version of Debian. Sometimes after I watch a youtube video and I don't close the browser I can not get xmms to play an mp3. But if I close the browser, then xmms can play the mp3 without error. I know this has something to do with esd not getting release or releasing the hardware but I am not sure what to do about it.

Funny, I would think -removing- esound would solve it...
Anyway, there is a command to see which program is keeping the soundcard busy:

    lsof | grep snd

    --Japser.

Install libesd-alsa0 and see if that resolves your problem (you may have to log out of your session and back in again).
