    Installation lock up...

i have recently got a new computer (today infact), and i am wishing to install Debian on it (the KDE version pref). I go threw the installation rather ok... (i have to install onto a second hard drive but i dont mind)... it installs the base system, continues for a bit... and then gets up to tasksel, collects the packages (about 600 approx), and then stops on the last one and does nothing... i have let it run for about 3 hours when this happened and nothing happened. Also, if i press Ctrl alt del, the computer restarts instead of shutting down...

i have tried to run ubuntu but i dont seem to get to X... and when i type startx it goes funny and comes up with errors...

    here is what i have...

    Problem fixed...

what i did was i used expert mode to install, i installed the base system, and when i got up to package configuration, i just skipped the two steps and went strait onto installing grub...

i then rebooted, and of course i got a text login, where i logged in, and used "tasksel" command to install KDE and also several development packages. From that point i installed my nvidia drivers, and then when i used startx, all worked well...
